Both oil and grease are lubricants, the main difference lies in their texture.
Grease has a thicker texture than oil-based lubricant and is preferred for maintaining internal parts not exposed to external elements (rain, mud).
It should be applied to the seatpost, bottom bracket, headset, or fork steerer, preferably with a clean brush.
Oil, with its more liquid texture, is applied to external surfaces such as the chain or drivetrain.
